easier. they ate pasta and salad at $5 a plate, but donated much more. it was put together by rocks on main whose grandchildren go to school with the injured child. >> it was senseless to go on facebook every day about the clam chowder when this hit so close to home. >> reporter: aaron hern was waiting for his mother to cross the finish line when shrapnal tore into his thigh. friends and strangers of martinez wanted to help with expenses so they could stay with aaron. they raised $4500. >> they are in awe of how much the community has shown them the love and total come passion and support. >> our neighbors, our great neighbors as seen by

then second blast went off. it was instant chaos. >> i saw my daughter and grabbed her and we ran a little up the street. >> he soon realized that aaron wasn't with them. >> i found him on the sidewalk on his back with some other people who were injured. he was conscious and he talked to me and said my leg really hurts, daddy. he was being pretty brave. >> someone used a belt to make a turnikut for aaron's leg. once at the hospital the family heard from the doctors. >> he is doing well considering. it was a major wound, but it was going to be all right. he had no injuries to anything vital. the bone wasn't broken and no arteries were cut. >> as aaron recovers in the hospital, law enforcement keep close watch over boston. military police in boston common, s.w.a.t and heavily armed officers everywhere. through the security people still managed to pay their respects to those killed and injured by the eke plosion. explosion. aaron jasper drove from new york to add a flower to this

contained the deadly poison ricin. they are testing the mail in land over, maryland to see if any other mail is contaminated. it was addressed to the mississippi senator's washington office and postmarked in memphis. they are focusing on a person who has written to lawmakers in the past. and developing news in san jose. a fire at a home packed with ammunition. it started in a garage off ostrich court and then spread to a pair of adjoining houses. a resident told firefighter there's were 2,000 rounds of ammunition inside. the fire captain, however, said the ammo doesn't pose a danger to them because it pops and does not fire the bullets. a neighbor says though it put on quite a show. >> pop, pop, pop. everybody was back on the street over there and as the firemen went in we migrated to over here. >> firefighters have controlled the fire. no one was hurt. a break in the case of a paramedic murdered in oakland. police arrested five

and abc7 is the science museum's official tv partner, and we got a behind the scenes look at the spectacular free light show planned for the next two nights. >> the exploratorium is moving and for the next few weeks the facad will be transformed by a huge high-tech light show. this rendering shows one part of the wild visual adventure being created by a company called obscure digital. they also shot this video of the experiment used to build the show. they made 10 rep replicas of the facad. one so small it was on a microscope slide. and then they used all kinds of natural phenomena to create affects projected on to the explore for yum. >> we are actually taking into account the geometry of the building to wrap the light around the building. >> the new explore for yum is directly across from the embarcadero from our building. and so the master control for the light show is actually mounted on our roof.
